Vape Detection for Portuguese Schools and Businesses
From escolas secundárias to offices and shopping centres, Vape Guardian helps organisations in Portugal detect e-cigarette use in toilets and other unsupervised spaces, alerting staff in about 5 seconds.
Portugal has some of the lowest teen vaping rates in Europe, and the aim is to keep it that way. In the ESPAD 2024 survey, 22% of 16-year-old students had tried e-cigarettes and 6.4% had used one in the past 30 days (EUDA). Here is how our system helps school directors stay ahead.
Prevention Through Learning
Our vaping education course, built with the University of Southampton's LifeLab team, helps teachers explain the health risks behind the school ban.
Built by One UK Team
We design the sensor and write the software ourselves, so a single company supports the device, the app and every update.
Specialists on Call
Our vaping, hardware and software specialists help by email, phone or Live Chat.
27 Countries, Hundreds of Schools

E-Cigarette Rules in Portugal
Under Lei 37/2007, as amended, smoking is banned throughout schools, including classrooms, corridors, canteens and playgrounds, and the ban also covers nicotine e-cigarettes and heated tobacco. Selling these products to under-18s or inside schools is prohibited, and nicotine e-cigarettes cannot be sold online. Lei 5/2024 then brought heated tobacco under the stricter EU rules adopted in 2022 (Diário da República). Sensors help schools apply rules that already exist.
Trusted in Hundreds of UK Schools
Portuguese schools can choose a system that hundreds of UK schools use to monitor toilets, with no cameras or microphones.
They pick up a single puff of vape and send alerts to staff straight away, they're that accurate.
