Vape Guardian helps post-primary schools, FE colleges and employers in Northern Ireland detect vaping in toilets and changing rooms, alerting staff in about 5 seconds.
Why Northern Ireland Schools Look at Vape Guardian
The Public Health Agency's 2025 study of over 7,500 pupils in 91 post-primary schools found that 15% currently vape, rising from 4% in Year 8 to 46% in Year 14, and that vaping in school toilets is common and hard to manage (PHA). Here is how our system helps principals respond.

Vaping Rules in Northern Ireland
Selling vapes to under-18s, or buying them for a child, has been illegal in Northern Ireland since 1 February 2022 (Department of Health), and single-use vapes have been banned since 1 June 2025 (DAERA). Under the Tobacco and Vapes Act 2026, the Department of Health can make places vape-free once those provisions are commenced. Because of the Windsor Framework, e-cigarette packaging in Northern Ireland still follows EU Tobacco Products Directive rules (MHRA). The Department of Education's Circular 2014/25 encourages schools to extend smoke-free rules to e-cigarettes.
