For academies, multi-academy trusts and maintained secondary schools in England, Vape Guardian picks up vaping in toilets and changing rooms and notifies staff within about 5 seconds, backing up the rules in your behaviour policy.
Why Academies and Trusts in England Use Vape Guardian
NHS England's Smoking, Drinking and Drug Use survey (2023) found 9% of pupils in Years 7 to 11 currently vape, rising to 19% of 15-year-olds, and 25% had tried it. ASH's 2026 GB youth survey puts current vaping among 11 to 17-year-olds at 6%. Here is how our system helps heads of year and behaviour leads.
Education to Match Enforcement

Vaping Rules for Schools in England
Vapes are not on the Department for Education's statutory list of prohibited items, so its Searching, Screening and Confiscation guidance says schools that want to search for them must name them in the school rules. Selling vapes to under-18s has been illegal in England since 2015, and single-use vapes have been banned from sale since 1 June 2025 (GOV.UK). The Tobacco and Vapes Act 2026 lets the Secretary of State designate vape-free places, which needs further regulations, and the government intends its vape advertising and sponsorship ban to apply from 1 June 2027 (DHSC).
Relied On Across Hundreds of UK Schools
The same sensors already protect toilets in hundreds of UK schools, with no cameras or microphones involved.
They pick up a single puff of vape and send alerts to staff straight away, they're that accurate.
