Overview
Seaham High School introduced Vape Guardian to tackle a growing issue: students vaping in toilets. The goal was clear—discourage vaping in high-risk areas, reduce incidents, and create a healthier environment for everyone on site.
The Challenge
Like many schools, Seaham High was seeing vaping concentrate in toilet areas, where supervision is limited and behaviour can escalate quickly. They needed a solution that would both deter vaping and give staff the confidence to respond quickly and consistently.
Installation and Support
The school installed 11 Vape Guardian vape alarms across the site. After a brief early communication hiccup caused by a phone issue, the rollout became smooth and straightforward. The team found Vape Guardian easy to work with, with fast responses whenever support was needed.
Fine-Tuning for Accuracy
Shortly after installation, Seaham High noticed a small number of false alerts (including when cubicles were empty). Vape Guardian investigated immediately and used the school’s data to establish a baseline and adjust sensitivity to the right balance.
Within a few days, the system was running perfectly—with no repeat issues since.
Results
Over the past year, the impact has been significant:

- Early months: 20–40 notifications per day
- Now: only 1–2 notifications per month
