Following the illness of students at high schools in Chorley and West Lancashire from vaping devices thought to be tainted, Lancashire Police said that an investigation is underway.
According to the force, the students felt lightheaded and had palpitations in their hearts. In one instance, a child momentarily lost consciousness.Authorities are looking into how the kids got their hands on the vapes, which are only sold to those who are at least 18 years old. A police spokesman stated: After several young people fell ill, we are alerting parents to the risks associated with unregulated vapes and liquids. We are currently treating these as separate events, and inquiries into the facts are still underway. On the other hand, we want parents to know that they should exercise caution.The Safer Neighbourhoods Inspector, said We know that in some cases irresponsible retailers have failed to uphold this rule, selling vapes and vape products to children. The legal age to use vapes is 18.
This is not only against the law, but it also poses a serious health risk to children as these unregulated products have the potential to seriously harm them.
I would ask anyone with knowledge on individuals supplying these vapes and vape items, such liquids, to let us know so that we can work to get them off the streets and out of the hands of our young people.
