Dad demands vaping ban after both his daughters hospitalised

After his two daughters used e-cigarettes and were hospitalised with holes in their lungs only a few weeks apart, the father has called for the outlawing of vaping.
After using e-cigarettes since she was 13 years old, Tazmin Blight claims she hasn’t stopped vaping, despite her sister Kyla making headlines last month for being admitted to the hospital as a result of them.

Only a few weeks after Kyla underwent emergency surgery due to a vaping-related lung hole, Tazmin found out on Saturday, June 29, that her lung had collapsed.
Tazmin, 19, thought she had trapped wind after feeling “tightness” in her chest and pain in her shoulders and back. However, after hearing of Kyla’s experience, her father, Mark Blight, took her to the hospital.

The couple was “shocked” to learn that Tazmin’s lung had collapsed, similar to what had happened to Kyla’s some weeks before. Tazmin is presently awaiting word on whether surgery is necessary.

After vaping in a similar way and puncturing a hole in her lung, Kyla, 17, was admitted to the hospital on May 11 and underwent emergency surgery.

Tazmin acknowledged that she started vaping at the age of 13 and that she used to carry her e-cigarette “at all times.”
Tazmin pledges to quit vaping after continuing to do so after witnessing firsthand the risks associated with e-cigarettes from her sister. She “never believed” the same thing would happen to her.

Every five days, the administrative assistant finishes a 10ml container of vape juice, allowing her to take up to 600 puffs every day—roughly 50 cigarettes.

Following Kyla’s incident, the father did not hesitate to take his daughter to the hospital, where an X-ray indicated Tazmin’s lung had collapsed due to a burst pulmonary bleb.
Egremont, Cumbria resident Mark stated: “It’s been an absolute nightmare.” It’s really astounding how coincidental this is.

It brought me back to my previous state with Kyla few weeks ago. It’s very awful. I’m still finding it shocking.

The doctors admitted us right away due of Kyla’s ordeal. She was diagnosed with pneumothorax. It occurs when minuscule holes form on your lungs and eventually explode.

Hers is little, while Kyla’s was a tremendous big one. Our goal was to identify it early. The doctors concluded that vaping was the cause.
The carer disclosed that his daughter has been enrolled in a clinical trial run by the respiratory team at Carlisle Hospital. The couple is hoping that surgery to drain the lung won’t be required after a CT scan on Friday, July 5 revealed the lung inflation had decreased.

Mark stated: If her lung is able to support itself, she might not require surgery. All she’s done is lie in her room. She hasn’t accomplished much in a while because she has been unemployed for a few weeks.

Tazmin used to be terribly afraid of vaping, but she’s done a great job at quitting.
I never imagined that would happen to me, Tazmin remarked. I was genuinely taken aback. I assumed it would simply be trapped wind of some sort.

I simply didn’t anticipate it to be a collapsed lung because you never expect it to happen to you and Kyla just recently experienced it.

It all began on Friday with the ache. When I came home from work, I was experiencing severe back and shoulder discomfort as well as chest tightness.

When I woke up, it was still there, even though I had intended to try sleeping it off. That was limited to one side. It hurt so bad as I got out of bed.
Considering what had happened to Kyla, I reasoned that I ought to have it examined. Compared to me, she was far worse.

I’m eager for it to be resolved so I may resume normal breathing and be free of this chest agony.

The adolescent disclosed that she decided to stop using her throwaway vapes after recently switching to a refillable one. She was previously changing the contents up to four times a day.

I always had that with me, Tazmin remarked. I doubt there is anyone I know that doesn’t vape.

Up until around two or three months ago, I was using disposables. I made the transition to refillable ones.

I was unable to use it as much at work. However, I would restock it roughly three or four times a day when I wasn’t at work.

Now I’m attempting to stop. I had assumed that Kyla’s experience was unique, but it has now happened to me as well.

I can clearly see how these reusable or refillable vape pens will affect me in the long run. People can experience it at any time.

I want them to be outlawed entirely.

After discussing Kyla’s experience on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, the father said he is more committed than ever to raising awareness of the risks associated with vaping and seeing to it that e-cigarettes are “completely banned.”

Mark expressed his desire to see them outright prohibited. Kids are the target market for these vapes.

The way they taste and smell makes it evident that they are. A candy floss flavour one I passed the other day. It’s not marketed at me. It is intended for children.

Though there isn’t any evidence, we are aware of the harm that vaping does to users. People will continue to go out and purchase these disposable items up until then.

I’m quite happy with the work I’m doing to bring this to light. People have approached me on the street and said, “You’re the reason my daughter stopped vaping.
